Baby Slings: Assuring the Proper Fit!

Baby Slings: Assuring the Proper Fit!

It is important that your baby sling fits nice and snug. At ModMomMaternity, our baby slings are custom fitted, using your shirt size, to assure a baby sling that fits properly. Keeping you baby safe & comfortable should be the ultimate goal of your baby sling!

  • Your baby should be high enough on your body so that you are able to snuggle and kiss the top of their head and see their face. Keep in mind that the bottom of your sling should be within 2 inches of your belly button, when you are carrying your baby.
  • If you intent to hold them in a cradle position, their body should be positioned just below your breasts, with their head lying on the top of your breast, just as it would if you had them cradled in your arms.
  • As your baby gets older and you want to carry them on your hip while using the sling, they should be at the same height that you would hold them on your hip without a sling.
  •  Basically, however you would intent to hold your baby without the sling is how you position them while in the sling. But, the sling allows you to be hands free!
  • If your baby sling is too small, you may notice that it feels especially tight on your shoulder when your baby is in the sling, your baby is very difficult to get in and out of the sling, and the sling is hitting above your naval with your baby inside.
  • If your sling is too large, you will notice that it frequently slips off your shoulder, your baby will keep slumping down into an unnatural position, you keep feeling that you need to hold your baby to keep them from falling out of the sling, and when you are leaning or moving quickly your baby feels like he/she is swinging away from you.

If you purchase or receive a baby sling before your baby arrives, inquire about the exchange/return policy before hand and always keep your receipt in case you find that it does not fit properly later.
